Concussion

Concussion

Concussion (mild Traumatic Brain Injury/mTBI) is most commonly caused by a direct blow to the head, face, neck or elsewhere on the body with an “impulsive” force transmitted to the head. Concussion does NOT require direct contact to the head.

Symptoms of concussion can include:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Imbalance
  • Fatigue
  • Sensitivity to light and sound
  • Visual issues

It is critical after concussion to find the right treatment and to gradually return to activities as symptoms improve. Research has shown that doing nothing only makes symptoms worse and that it is important to begin a graded program of exercise to help normalize brain function.

Our therapists are trained in treating symptoms of brain injury, including dizziness and visual issues, and can restore your function so you can get back to the activities you love sooner.
